Aquaveo and the World Bank are collaborating to introduce the GEOGLOWS ECMWF Streamflow Service (GESS) to India through their National Hydrologic Program (NHP). The initiative aims to provide capacity building by demonstrating GESS's various uses, including data access and forecast bias correction. Local agencies will be able to utilize the hydrologic information provided by GESS during the upcoming monsoon season.
India's dam-controlled streams and human activities pose challenges for using GEOGLOWS, requiring bias correction methods for accurate forecasts.
To help experts in India use the GEOGLOWS streamflow data to address urgent water resources issues, virtual workshops were held for them. With an emphasis on using the GESS and replicating its structure, the trainings included both organizations and engineers. Participants can duplicate the "Hydrologic Modeling as a Service" approach with other available data after being given the tools needed to obtain and analyze data using the GESS. Aquaveo will offer extra assistance to aid in the region's bias correction.
